WP5 (5Cr-Β½Mo) bridges the gap between WP22 and WP9 in terms of chromium content. Higher chromium than WP22 gives improved oxidation and sulfidation resistance without the full cost of WP9. Extensively used in refinery furnace tubing, catalytic cracking units, and coker units where elevated sulfur concentrations and temperatures create conditions that defeat lower-chromium grades.
